    This 5MP wired security camera system has pretty crisp and clear video quality. Goood surveillance for both indoor and outdoor use. The cameras deliver sharp Full HD footage, even in low light, making it easier to monitor key areas around your home. The wired installation provides a much more stable performance without signal dropouts like wireless systems can. Installation does require some planning and effort to route the wires from the NVR to each camera. Once set up, the system runs smoothly with good motion detection and clear video playback. A solid, dependable choice for homeowners looking for enhanced security coverage.

    Better Security Than Wireless, Battery Cameras

    I've had a set of 8 wireless, battery-operated Blink cameras, 3 of which or original models, and the other 5 are the latest models. While they have a decent picture, they're horrid at picking up motion, frequently triggering for a passing car on the street, but failing to trigger when someone walks up to my front door. This has been incredibly frustrating and just a couple weeks ago they failed to capture someone breaking the window of a car out on the street near my home.

    I'm tired of playing games with these little wireless cameras, so I decided to go with a fully-wired system that runs off home power, not batteries and I do not regret it. The nice thing about a dedicated DVR camera system is you can lust leave it running all the time and if/when something happens you should have it recorded since the cameras never stop recording. Now, if something happens I can just go back and find the timestamp for the incident and actually have something recorded that might help.

    The cameras are easy to mount and the DVR is simple to set up, it even has an RJ45 network jack to you can hook it to your home network and check out videos on your PC, tablet, or phone. It's an 8-channel DVR so it looks like you could add 4 more cameras, but you'd need an extra power brick and splitter for them as the one included with this set is only for the 4 cameras that come with it.

    I do wish these were connected using network cabling and POE (Power over Ethernet) since it would simplify installation and make running the wires simpler. It would also make your hard-efforts at running wiring through the attic a bit more future proof as it would support any future camera that connected via a network cable, which is pretty standard these days. Still, it's a very nice system for the price.

    I prefer to use a wired surveillance system, because they are more reliable, and get a better signal, which also results in higher video quality, with less interference. They're also more secure against hacking and internet outages.
    I currently have a 4-camera Wired Defender security system, that needs to be replaced. One of the cameras still works well, so I tested this DVR with the Defender camera, and they are compatible for anyone that is curious.
    The set up was easy, the cameras get a clear colored picture during the day, and black and white at night.
    You have to connect it to a router, with the provided ethernet cable to set it up, have it back up the recordings, and use the audio feature. Otherwise, it can just be used for real time recording, without being connected to the router.
    It comes with everything you need to set up, and install the cameras. We ran all the wires through the attic, to the room where I use a TV monitor as a viewing screen.
    Overall, this is a very nice surveillance system, that works as described, for a good value. Highly recommended.
